Caroline may be gone, but she is not forgotten!
Biography
Until professional retirement during 1965, Margaret was in her own right an undefeated Championship ballroom dancer, her hobbies have included gardening and dog showing since 1967.
Margaret has been the backbone of the Zarcrest name, rearing young stock behind the scenes for over fifty years. Remaining behind the scenes has meant that she could continue her education in areas such as religion, history and archaeology.
They lived in the Black Country and were direct descendants of a well-known family of chain makers who made the chain for the iconic Titanic cruise ship, which sank in 1912. Her upbringing had been a Christian one, and she thoroughly enjoyed progressing into teaching the younger children at her local Sunday school, she knew her bible so well! She also sang in her Father’s church choir.
Dance eventually led her to fame, for she was introduced to her husband ‘Harry’ by Frank and Peggy Spencer when he was looking for a new dancing partner, dancing together for Peggy’s formation team and in competitions in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Earls Court, Blackpool Tower and on the well-known TV show ‘’Come Dancing’’. They were ranked number one after winning for four consecutive years for Shropshire and the West Midlands.
Margaret and Harry’s lives shared all their interests and they were lucky enough to have celebrated fifty years of married life together before Harry passed some ten years ago. Once Harry was gone, Margaret decided she wanted to be now be known as Caroline, so with her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s we just went along with it. This disease deprived us of her twilight years in many ways especially her willingness to leave the house, amongst other things and many situations and decisions had to be put on hold.
